Matilda the Musical

 

올해 드디어 애들레이드에도 'Matilda the Musical'이 들어왔다. 예매도 반년 전에 해 놓고 공연날을 얼마나 손 꼽아 기다렸더랬는지 모른다. 내가 어릴 때 한국에선 로알드 달 작품은 널리 읽혀지지 않아 찰리의 초콜릿 공장 정도 빼고는 거의 읽은 게 없었는데 호주 와서 예원이 키우며 보니 영어권 국가들에선 진짜 완전 클래식이었다. 예전에 엠마가 읽을 때 나도 따라 앞에 좀 읽다 말았었는데 다 읽을 걸 그랬다. 😂

굉장히 오래 주로 아이 눈높이 공연을 주로 보러 다니고 1년에 한번 정도 발레 정도만 겨우 보러 다니다가 너무 오랜만에 내 눈높이에도 딱 맞는 뮤지컬을 본 거라 그랬는지 몰라도 정말 신나고 재미있게 몰입해서 관람했다. 아오... 뮤지컬 보면서 이런 기분 느끼는 거 진짜 너무 오랜만이었다. 실은 벌써 보고 온지 한달이 다 되어 가는데 그 후로 지금까지 쭈욱 엠마랑 차에서 OST 무한 반복 중이다.

7월 15일에 애들레이드 마지막 공연이라 진짜 맘 같아선, 그리고 만약 예전의 나였다면 한번 더 보러 갔을텐데... 본 공연을 한번 더 관람하기 위해 500불이 지갑에서 나가지지 않는다. 500불이면 우리 딸 넉달치 수영 강습비네 뭐 이런 주부의 마인드가 튀어나와서... ^^;; 아쉽긴 하지만 고이고이 마음에 담아뒀다가 다음에 애들레이드에 또 오면 그때 다시 한번 더 봐야지.

예원이가 4살 무렵부터 1년에 한번 정도 규모가 큰 공연을 보여주고 매 방학마다 하나에서 두개 정도는 어린이들을 대상으로 한 공연들을 꼬박꼬박 챙겨 보여줬는데 이제 만 9세가 넘어가더니 슬슬 어린이용 공연들은 좀 지루해하는 게 느껴지고 오히려 제대로 된 뮤지컬이나 발레를 보여주면 더 좋아해서 내년 부터는 관람 횟수를 줄이더라도 제대로 된 걸 보여주는게 낫지 않을까 생각 중이다. 나는 덕분에 이제 어린이 눈높이 공연에서 좀 벗어날 수 있지 않을까 생각하니 참 좋다. 그래도 어릴 때부터 손잡고 다니며 공연 같이 봤던 건 나한테도 예원이한테도 참 좋은 추억이다. 내년에도 좋은 작품 또 하겠지.

브로드웨이 캐스팅보다 웨스트엔드 캐스팅이 더 맘에 들지만 뭐니뭐니 해도 라이브 공연을 봤던 애들레이드 캐스팅이 나에겐 최고. 그게 라이브의 힘!!이다. ^^

다섯살이던 마흔 둘이던 내 인생은 나밖에 바꿀 수 없다는 건 진리다.

인생이 공평하지 않다고 그게 그냥 참고 견디라는 말은 아니라는 마틸다의 야무진 목소리는 마음에 꽉! 와서 박힌다.
